There are lots of great slice-of-life shows, but usually when there are relationships they are a bigger part of the show. I don't know of many shows that are quite like that, but I'll try to tailor my recommendations to that, point out how shows fit that description and how they don't. It was more slice-of-life than romance until maybe the very end. Hyouka was a slow-paced, beautifully animated show where the romance aspect was not in the foreground most of the time. If you're looking to watch a classic, you should check out CLANNAD, which follows a boy named Tomoya Okazaki as he falls in love with his classmate Nagisa Furukawa - and eventually marries her. There are plenty of amazing slice of life romance series that are worth watching. That said, those experiences are often funnier, more dramatic, or more romantic than real life, which is what makes them fun. Characters have plausible romantic escapades that take place in a realistic, everyday setting, so viewers can often identify with what the characters are experiencing. Slice of life romance is a great genre because it's simultaneously relatable and escapist.
