I for one think that this would add even more "energy tension" between Hallucinate and Proton Charge. I'd also like to touch on one of Knee_of_Justice's ideas hallucinated buildings. Especially if the energy costs of Hallucination and Proton Charge were balanced against one-another appropriately. Secondly I do think that Hallucination would offer a lot more energy tension than the current shield recharge ability. You actually put thought into your ideas.įirst off, I like getting the shield battery out into the field, where it is actually useful. This ability would also have to be researched, maybe at the twilight council, or BETTER YET, the dark obelisk (dark templar tech), so it actually does something.Īnyways, sorry for the stream-of-consciousness post, but ill try to edit it in a bit to make it clearer. a colossus or a phase prism should take more energy to cloak than a probe (or like i said, use shield depletion to balance it). I think the energy cost would have to depend on the unit though. It would also give you a slight edge up in battles on home turf, and you could cloak multiple probes to save them from destruction when an enemy came by. The range would be sensor-tower-esque so you wouldnt have tons of leeway, but if you were sneaky, you could make a proxy obelisk and then cloak a phase prism and send it into their base. They could even balance it by saying that you have to give a portion of your shields to use the cloaking field. If it strays out of that range, it would become de-cloaked. That unit would become cloaked, BUT only if it is within that range. Then you could hit that button, and click a unit. I thought that a great ability for the obelisk would be to bring back the individual cloaking field, but only within a certain range (like the arbiter).īasically, the obelisk would have a certain range around it (large) and a button called "personal cloak" or whatever. (everything would have to be balanced of course) These buildings would take 3x damage instead of 2x damage.įor 100 energy, it would be GREAT to set up a fake proxy pylon to force your opponents army to keep scouring the map for real ones or to set up fake cannons at an expo to prevent your opponent from committing to a raid while you build real ones, or to set up a quick fake templar archives while you hide a real robo facility outside their base. ![]() Lastly, you should have the option of making hallucinated buildings, for a higher energy cost (everything except nexii). Still though, hallucination should give more units, if it is to be truly effective.įurthermore, hallucinations should take on all passive abilities of the units it copies (including mining for probes). The other change is that you can get any of these units right off the bat, which means that for 100 energy, you can get yourself two fake colossi by the time you have disruptor tech + research. In SC2, it is halved to 50 energy (according to SC2A), and it can make, for that 50 energy:Īccording to SC2pod wiki (which idk if it is entirely accurate). I like the CONCEPT of hallucination, but in practice, it doesnt seem all that much more useful than in SC, with the only real difference being that it is cheaper and is not on the HT (both of which are improvements, i admit, but still not enough).Īs most of you know, in SC, it just doesnt make sense to use hallucination when you could get 1.33 (etc) storms for the same energy (100). #5 My favorite use for hallucination right now is against a zerg player who whores banelings :D And i believe it comes from the sole reason that the obelisk simply sits in the back of the base and doesn't move. Obviously that i think the shield recharge would be going a little too far but as of now i still don't see any reason to not spam the proton charge. Something like this would provide a lot of interesting gameplay as neither of the other mechanics incorporate and offensive aspect to them. That way you could teleport it to the front and risk it being lost for the possibility of winning the game outright. Like make it have a sustainable that makes its field give + to recharge of shields in stead of just the same old shield battery thing. I think what should happen is that i should be given a teleport, as discussed on another thread, and give it an almost OP ability. People would just cast proton charge constantly. not cast proton charge on every CD) to use this. There still would be no reason to store energy (ie. Plus you wouldn't really have to use it all that often considering when it would be appropriate. ![]() Hallucination now has been reduced to nearly a gimmick state.
